The following artworks are the top 5 artworks which attracted me the most from this years artexpress 2010.
5. Arpeggio
Belinda Bortolin
Drawing
4. Gabo's game
Christina West
Sculpture
3. Human secrecy and the casual watcher
Jayson Fong
Painting
The thing which especially drew me to this artwork was the extensive layering of paint and the random doodling and brush strokes which gave an exquisite effect to the artwork.
2. The nightmare series
Emily-Kate Byrne
Painting
Not only did the bold colours catch my eye within this artwork but it was also the fact that it was done entirely on cardboard. i loved the fact how the artist wasnt confined to using expensive and traditional canvases like most artists do.
1. A butterfly flaps its wings in japan
Blanche Kennedy
Drawing
This artwork inspired me the most in the way in which it projected an immense amount of meaning and emotion within an artwork with simple strokes of ink. i also admire the way in which the artist took the risk to allow the artwork to form on its own accord as she simply applied an extensive amount of ink and then put the large sheets of paper out in the wind and rain and in the process relied on the exposure of wind and rain to ideally form her artwork.
